I made a post a while back about getting a bike in Japan. Well, the deal finally turned over and I picked up a used Kawasaki ZZR250. (Smaller bike means no costly inspection tax.) It's my first bike, and I have to admit that it has quite a bit more pickup than I expected, and is quite forgiving. All those big vehicles seem soooo slow now. Considering that most roads in Japan are narrow with speed limits under 50mph, this is really the perfect bike. Now I just need to learn to cancel my turn signal. Heh. And here's the requisite word of caution for anyone wanting to buy a bike in Japan for touring or whatever: they don't have temporary plates here. This means I bought my bike on Thursday and got it delivered the following Wednesday. Torture! Waiting to get off work now so I can go ride it some more. Mmmmm.
