Looking for sling help for a Daniel Defense XV EZ AR.
This one has the EZ Rail system. I think I want to try a single point setup. What do I need to do this?

Most likely you will need a replacement buffer lock plate to support a single point. The IKH SLAP plate, Magpul ASAP, and several others would support this. I would strongly suggest looking for ways to mount a 2-point sling over a 1-point, however.

I suggest a lock plate made by Double Star Corp. It's ambidextrous and easy to install (you'll need a castle nut wrench). Then just a good quality single point sling, stay away from any plastic parts if you can.

If you enjoy having working reproductive equipment, try and avoid single points.

This is a valid point. One good shot to the junk from a weapon dangling on a single-point goes a long way to making you get rid of it. Then again, causing that to happen usually involves actually MOVING with the weapon on the sling, not just standing around looking cool. :tongueout:

Agreed! I took a shot to the fellas and needless to say, the same day I picked up a 2 point.

Viking Tactics VTAC or a BFG VCAS. They are similar, both designed by former Delta Force guys, and about the best out there currently.

I've used both, currently use a VTAC.

I've both gotten nut-shotted by my own single point and nearly caused a simulated casualty to become a real one when my rifle decided to come flinging back from around behind me (operating as squad medic in an exercise) and nearly clock him in the head. He had a helmet or he'd have been concussed.

Thanks for the correction, don't know where my head was at...I was thinking of their light mount.

For the price, think I might as well pick one up myself. Do you have the wide padded version, or what? Do they come with QD swivels?

Yeah, I've run one of his might mounts in the past, and it's good stuff.

Mine did not, and I don't remember seeing one that did. Swivles are pretty cheap, though.

    Any specific ones/vendors you'd recommend?

For sling swivels? I'd imagine someone out there is selling some fancy, high speed low drag model, but I don't see much difference between most of them.

Slings are a bit of a different story.

The only thing crappier than a single point is a bungee cord single point.

I'm running a VTAC padded 2-point sling and really like it. I've done the single point sling and while some people may like it, it has very liimited use. The 2-point sling is the way to go.

Even a 3 pt is better than a 1 pt for most things, and I ran one for 3 years (issued).

I use the nonpadded LaRue QD model. The padded model did not exist when I got mine, and since i'm used to wearing armor, even out of armor the nonpadded sling doesn't bother me much.
