I cleaned my Gen 4 G17 tonight after a great day at the range, and now I cannot get the slide to lock on the frame. I double checked the recoil assembly and it is seated in the half moon notch. I don't want to force the slide into place and cause a bigger problem. Thanks for the help.:crying:

With the slide removed, just depress the FP safety while the muzzle is facing downward. When you release the safety, it grips the FP and holds it loosely in the forward position (sticking through the breech face). This holds the plunger in the depressed position and should allow reassembly without putting pressure on the cruciform or the trigger safety, as other methods do.

Is your slide lock installed the right side up (the notch facing towards the back of the gun)? Does it move down and spring back up? What about the firing pin safety, does it move freely when you push it?

    My first thought, too...

Edited: Okay, good, you got it...
