I know everyone (who is anyone) saw it long ago. Well I saw it and have some questions. (maybe I missed something.)

The head BG "lets" Bond capture him (after shooting the girl in head) :( Because he wants to get his computer hooked up to MI-6. Reason? It seems to help hims ESCAPE FROM MI-6.??? I didn't see that helping him kill M (he failed then anyway)
So why plan for yrs, set everything up in assumption the IT guy would be so STUPID as to hook a unknown computer to main frame system. (My brother does some stuff, has a donor computer that he can whip, reload from disc, never risk anything)
And I realize M was injured. But allow guy to wave flashlight around???? (after leaving skyfall main house)

So why get captured? How could he time his escape to second for others to give him clothing/pistol/etc?

Answer to all of the above: it's a movie.

I thought the writing was pretty lazy as well, and there were a lot of plot holes, but in the end it's a movie my friend.

It's hard enough to get reality straight, I don't expect much from movies. Some skin, some explosions a good chase. I think a plot is a little much to ask.

Not enough Bond girl, too much boy/boy innuendo, otherwise good Bond action flick. A long movie, but enough steady action to not seem so. See it in IMAX if you can.

I think he wanted to confront M.
She made the decison to let him be captured and he wanted to show her the result of her decison and make her pay. It wasn't like he was stupid, just crazy as a ship house rat.
He was loyal o he like a Son to a Mother, in a sick kinda way.

Honestly, I thought that scene at the end where "the head bad guy" was holding his and M's heads together with a pistol to both of their temples was the most "false" scene of the whole movie. M's character would have pulled that trigger in a heartbeat if she could have taken him with her.

I think they stated that in the movie.

This movie was terrible. From the hacker stuff, to the bad guy getting all gay with Bond... From the ridiculous ending where M dies in the house/church battle, and new Q, M, and Moneypenny being introduced, this is only an attempt to sell the Bond franchise to the idiot youth of our country. I guess that is who spends money on movies, but it is definitely more assurance to me that Hollywood rarely produces anything worthy of my time. And the dumber our coming generations get, the more we normal, thinking humans won't be able to identify. The nearest theater to me is nearly 40 miles away. I don't mind at all.

I hate to say it, because it probably means my brain has finally rotted away but I kind of enjoyed it.

    My take:

Judy Dench had to retire some time, giving her a warriors exit was classy compared to what happened to the former Q who died between movies as I recall. She got Jeff Coopers ideal death, mortally wounded in battle, victorious, with time to speak with her comrades and then die. She didn't get the last smoke or tipple however.

It was more in tune with the tenor of the books. The bad guy was bat **** crazy for one thing.

    Moneypenny was hot.

    On the other hand...

The obligatory sacrificial Bond girl was not hot.

Moneypenny getting all angsty and not taking the SECOND shot was stupid. Shoot 'till you lock back or the situation is resolved.

My daughter and I both cringed over the "hacking". They needed a consultant who has seen a computer somewhere besides his grandaughters dorm room.

The final scene with the gun to the head was pretty lame. I will wager that they tried several things and they didn't work on film, Bond sticking him in the back while he was talking etc. Not enough drama.

This, right here, ruined the movie before it started.

Seriously--you have a whole damned mag in that AR carbine. Keep shooting!

    Also:

    1) Bérénice Marlohe is smokin' hot, what's wrong with you?

    2) That whole thing grossed me out. Bond empathizing that this woman has been a sex slave since the age of 12, then not five minutes later slipping into her shower, was really creepy.

Her makup artist should have been shot. With a PPK so he/she would linger in pain for days.

I suppose it was true to the story, she was a washed up hooker trying to get out of the game.

    This.

As soon as the wizzer hooked up the computer, I thought, "uh oh - I bet that's not an isolated terminal. This is a trap."

While I liked the flick, Bond as MacGyver was a bit weird.

I was disappointed. I really liked Casino Royale, thought Quantum lacked substance but not bad. Skyfall was getting great reviews so I was expecting greatness. Besides the weak plot in general, what really got me was the Home Alone type ending where he sets up traps around the house to foil the bad guys. It made no sense, their best solution was to lure the super villain with seemingly unlimited resources to an unsecured house to fight by themselves? It's suppose to be a mysterious, intriguing spy movie but they turned into just another dumbed down blow'em up movie with nostalgic references.
And why all the references to bond being old and outdated? The last movie was a direct continuation of the first movie where he just earned "double O" status. One day he's a rookie and the next he's a washed up geriatric?

    my skyfall question is this...

in the beginning of the movie, the bad guy shoots bond in the shoulder (depleted uranium bullets, whatever) that becomes the evidence to track down the main bad guy. we see evidence of this shoulder wound throughout the movie.

    BUT...

moneypenny shot bond and he fell off the train. WHERE did she shoot him? i never saw a wound/scar from her shot. obviously it wasnt a head shot, or its end-of-movie. i saw no evidence of a would anyplace else.

    or am i missing something?

She shot him in lower chest. IIRC he had a rib broke, some other damage talked about.

Right upper quadrant. Remember the scene where he digs the bullet fragments out and asks the forensics guys to analyze them? I think they also show the scar in the Chinese hotel during the shaving scene.

I don't recall it that way. My memory is the BG fired a full auto burst (with pistol) that bounced off track how bucket. That is shrapnal that hit his shoulder. The 5.56 bullet was lower down/thru and thru.
