So I've decided on my birthday I'm going skydiving. Anyone have any good stories or pictures?
Its your life, good luck. JK
I got invited once and when we got there I just wasnt up to it.
I've always wanted to try it so I figured since my birthday is in a couple months... I'll be sure to make sure my life insurance premiums are paid up!
I started skydiving in 1994. It's perfectly safe and a major rush!!
LOL. Yeah if Bush Sr. can do it im sure you'll be fine.
yep , i went skydiving a couple of years ago at Dillingham Airfield, Oahu buecause i tried everything else on the island and that place had a military discount (score!)
when your at the door its not going to seem so cool anymore (i didn't have much of a choice as i was going on a tandem jump) when we got to the door he ask you if your ready
he heard yea , but to this day i swear i said uhhhh....
one you leave the airplane you feel the strong rush of wind and the plane leaves you sight pretty quickly. its going to sound strange but for a second you forget your falling and just enjoy the view
if your harness is fitted right opening the chute will be over before you know it(i was Air Force and knew some academy guys that tried to give their harnesses some slack ,... ouch)
it was fun , once you get over that initial fear the rest is auto pilot
Have fun. I've always wanted to skydive.
I was wondering if you can suffer an injury by falling and then suddenly being taken in the opposite direction when you pull the cord. Would it affect a bad back?
Probably snap it back into place!
My friends that did jump had the option to buy videos of their jumps and they were pretty cool. The picture panned in and out, in slow and fast motion all the while in the background is some Free Falling by Tom Petty was playing.
$99 for a video. Still up in the air about that. No pun intended.
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<WAS standing on the ramp of a C-130 one day at 17,500 feet. My buddy backed into me and hit my reserve handle. Next thing I know I'm under a reserve canopy at 17,500. At about 7,000 ft a UH-1H Med bird is flying around me. All total I have about 20 minutes under a reserve, And still hold the record at Fort Bragg. Skydiving is real safe, I have picked up about 8 dead soldiers, Three at one time, When a kid opened his main and took another kid and a Military Free Fall Instructor with him. DO what your Told, And you'll do fine....
Thats cool, my video was set to living on the edge which went along with my first jump
OP are you doing tandem?
You don't get pulled in the other direction when you pull. You continue decellerating, but you are still moving downward. The reason it appears that you do in videos because usually the parachutist pulls and the camera man doesn't until later, giving the illusion that you are going up.
Don't think I have much choice in the matter. Plus I would like to live to see my car insurance drop.
Did you turn off your FF2 so you didn't end up under two (possibly twisted) canopies? Sounds like you have me beat. I've had to ride a reserve 3 times. Once was because the HALO Jumpmaster went through my canopy trying to do RW, er uh, close formation flying.
If you turn into a human lawn dart, car insurance will be the least of your worries.
Get the video! I did and I am glad I did.
Not to sound negative,....but I saw a French Commando fall 2600 feet with a "streamer", backup chute.
I wish you luck on your birthday!
I would, but it would split faster than a stale pretzel.
Students had AOD's, All we had was a good arm ;o) I seen SFC David Cheney go through a students Canopy, The Student pulled high without warning. David was NICER to the kid than I would have been...
