Anyone in the group have any experience with this motor? I was told by the dealer, it's basically a 5.3L, with two cylinders gone. We were looking for the same truck with a 5.3, but they are several thousand more $$. I do know, after a week and 500 miles it's averaging 23.7 MPG. Compared to my old truck, a 2001 4.8L Silverado, the performance is about the same. Although the '01 was sold with 240K miles on it. Anyway..just wondering if anyone had any input on it either way. Thanks!

It's actually a 5.7 with two cylinders chopped off. I've had em in the past in s10 pickups and Blazers, the early ones had egr problems the last one I had was in a 2000 blazer and it ran great!

The 4.3 like the 5.7 were solid long running motors. I have the 5.7(350) vortec in my 70 C10.
