I just saw the second flock of geese heading south. I can't ever recall seeing this in August. What say you, are we heading for an earlier than usual winter?

Global warming has screwed up their schedule.

Farmer's wife told me that she heard cicadas on Jdly fourth and her grandfather always told her the first frost would be 6 weeks after that, which would put it in the middle of August - a fuill month early for my location. She said that little tidbit has always been right before, but I'm hoping not. I have to get the plastic back on my greenhouse before then...

I hope so! The flock of geese across the street from me has grown a lot. I live in NE Alabama. There are 2 large private ponds across the street and a large undeveloped grassy area. It's sorta neat, especially since all the poop stays over there, lol.

My wife and I enjoy watching the geese hatch and grow on the local central Missouri lakes that we fish. There would be hundreds of them. With the break in the 100 degree weather, we went fishing yesterday and all the geese were gone. I just thought they might of went north to cool off. My sister is in northern Wisconsin camping, and they are wearing sweatshirts and coats in the evening.

Our highs have lost pretty near 30 degrees in the past week. Way too soon for these cooler temps. It'll still warm up...I hope.

I don't think so. These were way high up, large V foramtions, the kind we usually see in October. I saw another formation this morning.

True, but the cold, snow and ice can come earlier.

Yesterday a large flock of geese were flying to Orman dam here. Early in the season for them to arrive. However, the two house Corgi's are still shedding hair from the heat of summer. Weather forecast shows a slight cooling off. We'll take the cooler weather and maybe the little ones will slow down on the hair shedding.

The world owed me this hot summer and the last warm winter after enduring the last few wicked winters, while working outside.

I think I'll buy another $900 of winter gear (like I did last fall) to guarantee another warm winter.

We didn't have winter last year. After an extremely warm summer thus far, I'm expecting another mild non-winter. Too bad, I bought the boys sleds last year. Couldn't use them once.

You think those are birds? Canadian Drones. Either way, they are Canadian, they don't know what's going on.
