Hi all, I'm new here so I apologize if this has been covered, but I wonder if you all would opine about your favorite mounts for red dots. I know you Carver fellas are around so please enlighten me regarding pros/cons of regular vs hunter and why yours vs the T.H.E. and others.

I'm considering mounting an ultra-dot, but am open to suggestions.

Also, I contacted Heinie and they want $25 buck additional for the speed cut option from them. I need something new for the G17 for stock and will probably be going with the 34 for MU if the Greeley results hold.

    Thanks in advance!

The Carver Mount is the STRONGEST mount on the market. The Hunter version will allow you to keep the sights on the slide. If you go with the regular mount the rear sight will not clear the mount due to the low mounting. I was one of the proto-type testers and at the time I was using a T.H.E. mount. The difference was amazing!! The PDP5CMP that I used on both mounts, the "dot" did not shake on the Caver Mount. I can't say that about the T.H.E. mount and at the time I was shooting a G24 (40S&W)! I'm now shooting a G37 with a Carver Mount and a PDP5CMP and it's just rock solid!
    Check It Out!

I used to have a T.H.E. mount but have not looked back since switching to my Carver Mounts. I have both Competition and Hunter mounts... apply them to suit your needs as DEJ mentioned above. If you use the lower height Competition mount, you may have to lower your ejection port by 3mm and perhaps need to tune your ejector (possibly get a Dale Rhea Tuned long ejector that Bobby Carver sells). The lower height may be advantageous to you if you like a lower line of sight on your Red Dot to the bore axis.

Bobby Carver stands by his mounts and he is true to his word... try one and you will not be disappointed.

    Good luck and have fun!

Craig, thanks for asking a very timely question (and to Dan and LG & others surely for the replies). Sure looks like a Carver Hunter (Weaver) mated with a C-More (Railway) would be one versatile outfit on my 34. :)

I use two Carver Mounts, the Weaver and the C-More. I prefer the Weaver with a multiple dot scope. Might wish to look at the Nikon multiple red dot scope.

G17L ported with Carver Weaver mount and Tasco PDP5

G24C with Carver C-more mount and 6moa dot on my C-more.

Neither are hunter models, but My next would be a hunter model for my G37.

In the past I've used Leupold, Aimtech and T.H.E. Accessories, and Carver is the best, designed by shooters for shooters.

Thanks for the insight everyone. I'm thinking a Carver/Hunter is in my future.

    congrats on winning...

Could be that Maryland compliant G34's take a little longer.;)

actually, md recently allowed the use of aftermarket locking devices. i just heard that my 34 will be shipping today or tomorrow (without the internal lock).

While catching up on some reading this evening, I came across this thread and I thought that I would inform everyone that has read this thread and hasn't tried a CARVER Mount that CARVER Mounts a Division of B&B Enterprise, will be loaning a couple of Glocks to be used at the side shoot in Conyers this weekend.

    GSSF Unlimited Glock
We'll have a stock 17 equipped with a Rhea Gun Unlimited 2.0 pound trigger and a CARVER Hunter mount with a CMore sight. Now if you haven't had a chance to see how your stock gun can be converted to a full house race gun in less than 5 minutes, stop by and try it out.

    GSSF Stock Glock
In addition, we will have a stock G17 that you can shoot on the side shoot. The G17 will have one of Dale's "new" Stock Legal Rhea Gun 2.5 pound triggers installed. "Experience the difference"

Dale Rhea, longtime Master GSSF competitor and trigger engineer, will be with me by the side shoot during Saturday to answer any questions you may have or to meet you.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone at Conyers.

    Best regards,
    Bobby Carver

    Dale,
We will be around on Sunday but the demo guns will be available at the side shoot. Dale and I will be shooting our matches on Sunday. If you get a chance, stop by and try them out.

    "Experience the difference"

    Best regards,
    Bobby
