Mauser Borsigwalde S/243 1937. Vet bring back, transitional Weimar eagles, ALL MATCHING numbers on EVERYTHING, all cartouches intact!!!! Friend of a friend had about "6 old guns from his dad (WWII vet) in his closet that he never shoots" My friend calls and tells me he has a German gun and he wants $80 for it. Heck, I paid $250 for my RC over 3years ago. Needless to say I told him to get it for me. I figured I was probably going to get a hunk of crap! This is an antiques road show type score for me. Im not going to sell it, but from what Ive researched this thing is worth close to possibly $1000. Sorry for the crappy pics, my skills are not the greatest. I would appreciate any other info or opinions as well.
Verrrrrrrrrry nice score!!!!! Does the rifle have a 'duffel cut' under the rear barrel band?? If it does NOT have one, that numbers matching K98k is worth every bit of a $1K or more. You have the deal of the year, sofar.
VERY nice score!! A bit of advice, if you oil her down use regular gun oil and NOT the modern synthetic oils. Some of them can damage the patina or turn odd colors depending on the metal.
Amazing!! I ran across a numbers matching (vet bring-back) K98k (online), near Fredericksburg, VA, and just didn't have the cash at the time. Photos were incredible! Clean. Bore was immaculate. $1,400.00. That was two years ago. Again, congratulations!
Thank you, I wish I was a good photographer and I would take a pic of the bore, it has very sharp rifling.
No duffle cut, even the little metal piece has the eagle with "211" stamped on it that matches all the other nazi stamps on the rifle
dude!, why can't i come across deals like that p.s. great looking rifle O.P. haven't seen those prices since the end of the Korean War
You can have it for $85 Devil Dog! I had a friend offer me $180, then he offered $280. Im going to keep this and give to my son one day.
