The German corporate arm of SiG Sauer is closing.

Manufacturing SiG weapons and trying to market them to German Federal and State police had become impractical since German law excludes transnational corporations from providing German police agencies with firearms unless they comply with strict sales to non-government customers in international arms sales.

Over the years, SiG became a de facto American company.

The P226 was my favorite duty weapon.

I'm sure the American market will more than make up for the income lost in German sales.

I have the same one, with the "U" serial number prefix and the mud frame cuts. The darn thing runs like a $50,000 hand made watch.

Sig Sauer's international headquarters are in Wisconson? I assumed that location was their North American headquarters not over all headquarters.

I use to use mine to humiliate the wannabe pistoleros that held combat matches once a month at the local gun range. They had expensive custom.38supers open top carriers and a "holster" that was little more than a shelf the gun Sat on.

When I showed up in my duty rig they thought it funny that a cop could compete with them. Should have seen their faces when I cleared the course in a fraction of their record best time.

After a couple of times of me cleaning their clocks they got a guy that shot for team safariland to come shoot against me. The guy had a custom 38super made by a famous gunsmith that would have cost several thousand dollars but he got it for free in order to promote the gunsmith work.

They were so happy when he beat me. He beat my time by 1.5 seconds thru the course.

Until he pointed out I was using a duty rig with security holster and mag carriers with secured flaps. And that while everyone of his double taps were several inches apart on the target everyone of mine were touching one another center target.

I quit going after proving my point, that being that contrary to their belief, some cops could indeed shoot.
