I have been thinking about bringing the P6 into my EDC role. While I've been assessing the pros and cons of switching to it, one potential problem, while it is remote, that I thought of is the hammer. With the cut out hammer is it possible for it to get caught on clothing or a piece of thread, etc... Something that might produce printing or impede draw or weapon function. Has anyone had any issue with their P6 hammer catching anything? I think that this is such a remote possibility that it isn't worth worrying about. However, TGS has P225 hammer for $47. I wonder if somewhere down the line it isn't wise to install one, since it is only $65 ish with shipping and install (I'm not confident enough to touch the internals on a Sig).

I think it is a very slim chance that the slot would catch a thread. That being said, it obviously bothers you so maybe piece of mind is worth $47.

Maybe down the line. I agree that it is a very remote chance. I'll use that 47 for other things right now.

    I'd love to get one.

You think that P6 hammer poses an issue? I think I'm worrying too much.

Fill the tiny hole and gap in the hammer with a tiny dab of JB weld. End of that problem.

I cut the loop part off mine with a cutoff wheel, and added serrations for traction. If you have the skills, it works out pretty well.

You could just drop the gun on the hammer and it will close all by itself, that's why it's there, to see if the gun has been dropped.

This...it took me 10 minutes in a vise after stripping I put a nice contour on it like the DAK hammers and used some cold blue it looked like a custom Hammer.

Never had any of my 225/P6 hammers catch on clothing. I would worry about it. Many detective and plain clothes cops carried those for years in Germany.
