For those interested in the manual thumb safety version of the P365 I'm passing along the following.

I've contacted Sig a couple of times concerning the possibility of converting a non-thumb safety P365 to one with a manual safety. The first inquiry, about 6 months ago, stated that at the time they had no plans, however, so many inquires had been made they were sending it up the chain.

I contacted Sig again last week and the response was as follows:

So perhaps this may become an available option in the (hopefully) near future.

I have both a no-manual safety and a manual safety version, so it won't impact me, but I can see why some may want that option. Hopefully SIG delivers a simple and inexpensive option to allow those who value this to do it. I cynically suspect they won't be in a hurry to offer it though. All it would do is add to their development costs, while yielding a combination of killed 365 MS sales, and a small profit. Not the recipe to make them sprint to deliver a solution, I am afraid...

It is already available, although not as a kit from Sig.

Grey Guns offers a retro kit with their lasered grip.

Midwest Gun Works sells the 3 needed pieces and one can modify a grip or purchase the MS grip.

Lots of threads over at Sig Talk.

Just curious as to the point of this? Why not just buy a Manual Safety P365? Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to go messing with retrofitting a safety on a carry gun IMO.

The 365 is already designed to use a MS. Just needs three parts and a grip frame with the hole (or modify an existing frame). And the modification takes very little time/effort. So if your specific platform has proven reliable and the mod is easy then it's simply one way to get to the same result. At least the option exists for those that want to do it. And options are always nice to have.

I’m in the process of changing my P365s to the XL grip modules and will make them “safety” versions.

Ya know, I sorta blew off the XL as pointless, but have since been carrying with 12 round mag... now I get it.

I’ll probably pick up an XL grip module in the future.

I shoot a LOT and the 12 round extension pinches my finger when using hot rounds.

I’ve not had that issue. Do you have small fingers?

No, I didn’t have an issue for the first 5000 rounds or so. But now there is more wiggle and play in the frame and magazine extension and when really cranking down on grip with hot rounds there’s just enough of a gap that it’s annoying.

I always carry the 12 rounder so might as well do it without an extension.

With all these places selling out of the parts, it may explain why Sig was hesitant to put a kit together. They know there is a large number of people who want the manual safety and hopped we would buy two.

Side note, how hard is it to cut the non safety frame and what tools are needed? I'd like to keep the same frame if possible (save money from frame and talon grips), but want to make sure it looks clean.

I’ll let you know when I do it. I don’t think it’ll be too hard. I opted to buy a grip to cut since it was only ~$25 shipped. I figured if I mess it up, I’ll still have the original. I also want a left side only safety and will be cutting off some of the lever.

The dimensions are on the sig talk thread linked earlier.

My plan is to clamp it in a drill press and take off the majority of the needed material. I’ll then use hand files to slowly/carefully do the rest. Worst case scenario is I completely hork up the grip and have to buy a precut one.

EDIT: Just FYI, here is a video that shows how to install the safety: https://grayguns.com/product/laser-sculpted-grip-module-p365-manual-safety-system/
