Any one own one or shot one? I'm having an itch for a 1911. Coming from all Glock and revolvers I'll have to practice with the thumb safety but I'm really liking the looks of the GSR and I always wanted a Sig. Any opinions?

Sig makes good 800 to 1000 1911's. I am very happy with the 1911 XO and Nitron I have shot. The next one on my list to try is the TacOps one

Superb 1911's. I shot the tacops this past weekend and it's great. I wouldn't mind getting the STX, TTT, and the original Nitrons in full and carry.

Sig 1911's are built with 2-6 MIM internals. Usually it's the slide release and I believe thumb safety at the very least if i'm not mistaken.

Hard part about these gorgeous guns are finding a holster for them.

I picked up a Sig "Scorpion" 1911 about a month ago and I'm really liking it so far :)

What are the main differences you notice in the Tac Ops vs the Nitron versions during shooting.

I haven't shot a Nitron but I would imagine that they are nearly identical. I would only expect a difference in the STX & TTT which comes directly from Sig's custom shop.

I have a Stainless Sig GSR that I have owned for 4 years now. When I bought mine they had no MIM parts. I still think they have little to none in them now in a 1911 for 900 bucks. No one can match that. I did a lot of research before I bought my GSR. There simply is no better dollar for dollar 1911 out there than the Sig IMO. That pistol should sell for more than it does when you compare it to it's competition. I don't have even 1 negative thing that I can say about my GSR. I honest to god have had 3 people shoot my GSR then go buy there own!! Buy one! I guarentee you will be damn glad you did!

I absolutely love those grips and must have a set just like those. What brand and type are they? And how much do they cost?

I agree. Every single one I've seen at the range have actually run reliably. I had a chance to shoot one a few months back and field strip it. It's well put together and shot very well.

If I was to purchase a production grade 1911 ever again, it would be a Sig 1911.
