The Sig 516 is not a Sig 556. It is an AR-variant that is overpriced and with Exeter's QC lately, I wouldn't touch one with a 10-foot pole.

For the price of a 516, you could get a much better gun.

With all of the great choices we have that are pretty much well established as "good to go"... I would not go with a Sig. Especially with the QC issues they have had lately with the American Sigs.

I like the 516 Precision Marksman... Looks like a more affordable option than building an SPR - it's like $1500 for a BCM Mk 12 upper, figure then around $4-$500 for the lower and parts kit, the Magpul DMR stock, upgraded pistol grip, etc.

Obviously the BCM Mk 12 will be more popular but the 516 PM looks pretty effective, just my humble opinion.

I havea recent years sig that's been reliable through 3k rounds. and no just sort of reliable, it has yet to fail. Oh and the frame was made in exeter. Just saying. Broad sweeping comments assume an awful lot. The 516 enjoys a pretty good reputation on sig forum and those guys hate sigs.
