I am buying in the next week a Sig 220 Stainless or HK USP 45acp? Which would you buy. Which is more accurate. Most reviews I have read favor the Sig Sauer for accuracy. The HK tends to be lighter and holds more capacity. The Sig will cost more, but most say HK customer service sucks but most likely will never use it? I was deadset on the HK, never owning one, but now leaning towards the Sig? Help my indecisiveness. Thanks.

Did you have a particular purpose in mind or just another fun one for the collection? :dunno:

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that mechanically they are probably fairly indistinguishable unless fired from a bench rest. The big variable will be your mitts. One or the other, or none of them will feel and point right. One or the other, or none, will be 'the one' that matches up to you.

I've had some dealings with H&K customer service, etc. at times. I was always treated very well. I've corresponded with customer service / tech folks, head of U.S. Sales and head armorer for H&K USA about different nerdy technical esoterica. Everyone was always professional and helpful.

I've also had to avail myself of SIG customer service for an actual problem. They were good as well and took care of me. They even put on a free set of night sights for my trouble. I offered to pay for them and they wouldn't take my money. Can't complain about that, though that particular gun I didn't care for (P250). The P6 and P239 SAS Gen II I still have are joys to shoot.

Personally I would get the HK, but that's because I already have a P220 Compact, along with 2 other Sig's, and I don't have any HK's.

I would get the Sig. My P220st is a lot easier to shoot than most 9mm's for me and all the controls are placed where I think they should be and I wouldn’t change a thing about the gun. With all that being said if it was a P220 vs a HK45 I might choose the HK because the US built Sigs are not as good as an H&K. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

For what it’s worth I currently own a P220 ST and a P220 Two tone with an aluminum frame as well as an H&K P30 in 40 S&W and use to own a Sig P226,P225,P6, and P220 compact.

P220ST is gorgeous and a tank; only bad thing I hear is something about the internal extractor, but it might've been on early models that they had an internal one?

then again, even though i said the hk, it got a rather unfavorable review from a recent magazine i read. i mean in the written part of the magazine i read they had nothing but great things to say, and granted it was the usp compact .40sw that they reviewed...on the accuracy/velocity chart, they shot it from just 15 yards instead of the standard 25..and it was all around 3 inch groups, which doesnt seem very good for an 800 dollar gun IMO, i mean my g21 can make 2.0-2.5 inch groups from 25 yards and it was about half of that price. if your looking for range as primary use, then i would try them both out. granted bench rest tests are pretty much worthless in any real life situation, but if you are looking to do bullseye shooting, you are going to want something really accurate. I hear a lot of people rave about the accuracy of the usp series, but after seeing that article, i just dont know. for defensive use i would choose that over the 220, but idk, because as you said, you just basically want a range gun.

I find Sig's trigger on the P22X far superior to the USP trigger. My P226ST is incredibly accurate and easy to shoot. It's too heavy for anything but the range, but is a joy at the range.

Not sure about the HK45, but I'd vote Sig (even newer model) over the USP.

I've handled the 220, and its action is so buttery smooth (it was used). It was a a 220 with threaded barrel, and I liked it over all, but I own 7 USP's and have come to love the usp platform. Would I trade my USP 45 for a 220? probably not, would I like to own both, definitely. Would I trade a 220 for a USP, probably not either. They are both so different, yet so similar. But I don't know what it is, I like how sigs shoot, but I shoot HK's better.
