any pics here of the two finishes side by side, also am I right in thinking that all 26's in LGSs now will be the new finish or are there some of the older ones still in the shops? thanks

I can get you one, but I really don't think photos will do it justice. FWIW, my G23 I bought new 3 years ago has a rougher/more granular, darker finish than my July '11 G24 which is more grey and smoother. The barrel of my 23 is also darker.
