If you haven't written your congress critters, haven't renewed your NRA membership or made an extra gift to the ILA; I hope you are at least loading ammo.

I went to the (wasted) effort of writing Sherrod Brown, for my sins, my senator, just to put him on notice. Renewed my NRA membership early and am working on getting a couple of co-workers to join. Wrote John Boehner, my rep again last night, more to remind him that he needs to crack the whip on the RINOs than to encourage him personally.

This is what I got from Comrade Brown. I'm lucky he was able to get his face out of the president's backside long enough to dictate it.

    Dear Ronald:

Thank you for expressing your views about firearms legislation.

As a United States Senator, I took an oath to defend the Constitution. The Second Amendment makes clear that Americans have the right to own guns, and the Supreme Court over time has given meaning to this right.

When our children and families are no longer safe at our schools, in our malls, and in our movie theaters, then we as a country must take action. The shocking numbers of public shootings throughout the country last year, culminating in Newtown, Connecticut, demands that we engage in a serious national discussion about gun violence, not just in terms of weapons and bullets, but also including mental health access, public safety officers, and our responsibility both as individuals and a society.

Like all rights, it must be balanced against others. I have supported restrictions on the possession of assault-style weapons so our public safety officers are not put at increased risk, and restrictions on the ability of criminals to possess handguns but I fully support the right of Ohioans to own firearms.

Should the Senate consider this issue in the future, I will support common-sense reforms that protect both public safety and the rights of gun owners. Thank you again for contacting me.

    Sincerely,

    Sherrod Brown
    United States Senator

If anyone runs against this POS in the next election, they get my vote, even if they are dead, a convicted felon and have bad hair.

Yea, I can't even explain how mad I was that Brown won the election.

I've done what I can. I did renew my NRA membership that I let lapse a while ago, and I've vowed to never let it lapse again. I kicked some extra funds to the ILA as well.

I wrote the politicians I thought might actually listen, there isn't any reason to write Brown, he is about as left leaning as they come.

To paraphrase Jay Z, I've got 99 problems but ammo aint one.

I felt I needed to write Brown as well.

"I am writing to express my absolute opposition to any new infringements of the Second Amendment. While the media pretends that limitations on firearm ownership will result in reduced violence, anyone who has studied the history of gun control and history in general knows that this is a lie. The world is full of very violent nations with very strict gun control. In all cases, when a government disarms its peaceful citizens the purpose and result is not to reduce violence. Crime may be the excuse, but the reason for gun control is always to disarm a population for political purposes. At the very least law abiding citizens are deprived of the means to defend themselves and their families against criminal violence as we have seen in Britain and Australia. In the worst cases disarmed citizens become the prey of rogue factions in society, not infrequently criminals operating under the protection of, or actually within, the government as seen in Mexico and Columbia.

While some people do not view firearm ownership, the right of self defense and our history of self reliance and individual liberties as anything other than historical oddities, for many of us they define our nation and our relationship with our government. If the Constitution is not respected by our elected officials, if the rights of the individual are not sacrosanct then I must consider the possibility that the government has forfeited the legal and moral right to govern. Contrary to Nancy Pelosi's assertion, America is not a winner take all democracy, the rights of a single person are as important as those of any faction, however large; otherwise no one has rights, only permissions granted by whatever faction happens to be in the ascendance at the moment.

It is painfully obvious that the Obama administration is paying off its political debts to the far left with the blood of innocents. To use the recent acts of violence to push for further infringements on the Second Amendment is revolting. The people who committed these heinous crimes are exactly the kinds of people who were willing to go to any extreme to perpetrate terrorist acts. To pretend that removing firearms from the hands of the law abiding would prevent criminals from killing is absurd, all were obsessed enough to go to extremes of effort to carryout attacks on the innocent. These kinds of people will use bombs, poisons, knives, motor vehicles or any means that they can imagine to gratify their need for notoriety.

I call upon every elected official in America to stand up to the Obama administration and their lies and manipulations of the recent tragedies by refusing to be bullied into passing laws that are illegal and unconstitutional infringements on the rights of the peaceful citizens of the United States."

Since he is a socialist I felt it was important to put him on notice. This is not business as usual, they will not do this without a price they cannot afford to pay, not if every one who cares about liberty stands together.
