You DO have one.......right? I know us GTers are sticklers for being prepared and all. :)

Just bought this bad boy two days ago. Gonna mount it on the wall next to my front door when my drill gets in.

It's a First Alert Pro10. It's the first fire extinguisher I've ever had. 18.5 lbs of red beauty. I figured "go big, or go home". Rated 4-A:60-B:C. I don't have the receipt in front of me....I think it was $82 or $84 at Ace Hardware. Listed $102 on their website:

    https://www.firstalertstore.com/sto...eable-Commercial-Fire-Extinguisher-PRO10.htm#

I have to admit, I like looking at it. There's a mechanical, industrial beauty about it.

What do you have? Show it off.

I think the bigger question is why you don't have a drill already?

Because I didn't need one until now. But I'm rectifying that with a DeWalt drill and driver set, complete with screw driver bits.

I have 7 of these little guys either mounted throughout the house/garage/shed or under sinks/cabinets... I also have automotive ones in each car.

We are a long way from help if a fire breaks out, so I like to have one (or two) available no matter where in the house/property I am.

Kinda strange but I get it. People used to drop off expired ones at the firehouse. Great targets.

I would but TOS forbids it. Post #9 covers it crudely though.

Being a volunteer firefighter taught me two things about extinguishers. First, that most people don’t even have one, and two, if they do it’s a 20 year old piece of junk from Walmart that lost all of its pressure 10 years ago. Lots of situations that could have been saved by a decent extinguisher ended up in a total loss.

Don’t ever buy the consumer brands sold at big box or hardware stores. Look up fire equipment distributors in your area and go talk to them. They will sell you the commercial grade stuff (Amerex, Ansul, Badger etc.) that won’t completely fail when you need it. They cost $100-$200 each new but would be worth it when SHTF

So First Alert's canisters are made in Mexico, and their chemicals are made in China.

Boy, if this were any other product, that combination would be terrifying, lmao.

I found the receipt for mine....it was $69.99 at Hoy's Hardware in Oregon.

It looks and feels like a quality item.

My house had a small Halon extinguisher in the kitchen, I am keepin that. I found some small ones at Home Depot for $8 awhile ago so I bought 3 or 4. Then I have a couple I think 10 pound ABC and a couple of foam spray cans. I would most likely carry a fire outside (in a pan) or smother it. The garage is probably the worst for me, I have caught paper towels on fire welding. I keep all of my flammables in a metal cabinet but there is still fuel in tanks and jugs outside.

I think my house and possessions may be worth more as a claim.

Metal valve is 10 times better than plastic, I’ll give you that. I think First Alert extinguishers are made by Ansul so it should be ok.
