My LGS and range are right down the street from my office so I usually take along a coworker once a week on our lunch break.

Today we shot a Ruger SR1911 and a Sig Sauer 1911. They were range guns. I usually shoot my Glock 23 or LC9 but wanted to try something different today. I first learned how to shoot a Colt 1911 .45 as a kid and have always wanted one.

We shot the Ruger first. I was impressed with the way it handled and the accuracy. It lacked night sights and frontstrap checkering.

Next up was the Sig Sauer. The finish and accuracy were better than the Ruger, IMO. It also had night sights and frontstrap checkering (as well as a higher price tag). My coworker liked the Sig Sauer 1911 better as well.

This group was shot at 25 yards one-handed with the Sig.

Thanks! My next gun purchase is definitely going to be a 1911.

Im a fan of the Sig 1911s. I like them better than the Ruger SR 1911 but the Ruger is a good 1911 also.

Sig Sauer could have had the 1911 market by the balls but the managed to screw it up. Kind of sad because I've always been a big Sig fan.

Some do not like the external extractor, SIG could have had them by using a traditional High quality internal extractor and not having the crappy FPS in the first series they introduced.
