The cleaner found the unattended semi-automatic Glock 19 in its holster on board a United Airlines jet. The aircraft had landed in London from Washington DC, where UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab had been to discuss Brexit with US politicians. The discovery prompted a team of cops to descend on the scene, but the officers were stood down when it became apparent that the weapon belonged to a protection officer assigned to the foreign secretary. The Metropolitan Police have confirmed that the officer has been suspended from operational firearms duties pending an investigation into the bizarre incident.

A friend of mine works retail and had this happen last week. A sheriff deputy left a gen 4 g22 in the bathroom. He said it was pretty hilarious when the guy showed up to try and get before anyone noticed meanwhile the city police was there to retrieve it and gave him he**. Made him get the sheriff down there and everything lol.

Maybe that deputy should be transferred to jail staff

Oddly in kentucky the sheriff is not in charge of the jail we have separate jailers as elected officials with their own staff. Although at least one person working at the jail at all times has to be deputized as a sheriffs deputy as well and a deputy jailer/jail employee in case someone turns themselves in to serve the arrest warrant. We can be pretty backwards in kentucky lol. Also sheriff deputies transport prisoners between jails so if you are arrested in pike County and your warrant is in Johnson County the Johnson County sheriff will send a deputy to transfer you. However where I live (Johnson county) the jail serves 8 or so counties. That can turn into a mess when it comes to transporting for court dates and what not. Especially considering between the jailers, sheriffs offices, city police departments, 3 state police posts, and at least two probation and parole offices.. there are over 20 different agencies that could be taking someone to and from that jail. It is honestly fascinating they don't mess up more than they do.

Yes, good ole Kentucky, "home" to me and my people. In my younger days I dated the grand daughter of one county's jailer and the niece of another county's jailer. Had I ever got in trouble while "down home" I had my bases covered as far as jail goes.

    The G-19 was ‘unattended’.

Just wondering if a man and woman in Kentucky get a divorce. Are they still brother and sister?

I wish I could find guns just laying around in public, especially with a free holster.

My son and guys in his academy class found a SIG 239 in rest room n Investigator left. They thought it was a test and they secured the rest room and notified training officer.

Guy I work with found a S&W&P laying in the road. Local PD ran it said it's not stolen gave him the call number and told him to keep it.

When I worked armored trucks, one of our guys left his glock in a McDonald's bathroom. He didn't realize until a couple hours later...he went back but the gun was gone. He decided not to report it to anyone. He went home while on shift to get another gun so it wouldn't raise suspicion when he returned to base after his route.

His partner had his sister "anonymously" call me to report the lost gun. The guy got fired and I don't know if he ever reported the lost gun to the police.

A free holster (like the one in the story) probably wouldn't be very comfortable anyway.

In London, the cleaner would have been a criminal if he had kept it.
