    Yah, great voice, without question.

Still think the original kills their version.

Without a doubt. Nothing like the Gary Rossington solo.

I've been a bouncer for them at a few shows, and they sound great live. I hate that they covered that song, and still prefer the original Skynyrd version, though I admit they did it well. They're also nice guys.

Great cover...Shinedown is one hell of a band.

However, Shinedown will no longer perform the Skynyrd song Simple Man. The reason they covered it to begin with is because their former guitarist Jasin Todd is married to Melody Van Zant who is Ronnie Van Zant's daughter (Ronnie Van Zant was the original singer for Lynyrd Skynyrd killed in 1977) and the band is also from the same area the original members of Lynyrd Skynyrd were from.

I actually like the cover better? I told the wife you should play this at my wake.

I haven't seen them in concert though. I listen to them, Seether, Papa Roach, Audioslave, Day of Fire. Etc. That song is currently on my MP3 for the gym.

Basically because Jasin Todd (the guitarist married to Melody Van Zant) is no longer in the band.

good cover but the Skynyrd version is still better and still my favorite Skynyrd song. Great song though.

I like both versions. The Shinedown version is excellent though, for a cover, and that boy can sing.

Love that song. Impossible to listen to alone and not sing aloud.
