Has anyone out there read Sherman Alexie and enjoyed his pure literary genius as much as I have?

I've been reading "Ten Little Indians" (short stories) and have just been amazed at the writing.

I was particulary taken by the short story "Can I get a Witness".

Here's a sample of the less controversial aspects of this piece:

"And wasn't silence more ambiguous and terrifying than
anything else? Loose-limbed, he trembled. He wanted
to love her, and he wanted his love to be bittersweet
and irrepressible. He wanted his love to be different
than everybody else's. He wanted his love to be the
only true image of God. He wanted his love to be the
tyrant that saved the world no matter if the world
desired to be saved. He wanted his love to be the
wine and the bread, and the blood and flesh. He
reached for her, a dangerous stranger in a city of
dangerous strangers, but she turned away from him and
    walked unsteadily through the crowd."

wow. If only I could write like that!!!

I've never read anything of Alexia but have read good things about him. That excerpt sounds like his work may be of more interest to female readers.

No no no. Not more interest to female readers at all! Holy guacamole no! I just couldn't quote some of his other stuff cuz it's way too controversial and a little bit, well, it's not "wholesome" GT material (if you know what I mean). You should read some. Seriously. It's not girly at all!

I must warn you all that Serman Alexie is an amazing writer, but some of his content is a bit uncomfortable, in a good way. Some people do not like being uncomfortable, so that's just a warning.

OH MY GOODNESS!!! I just accidentally replied under Chewy's screen name and I have no idea how that happened!!!! I'm so stupid. Sorry chewy, I guess when you used my laptop last it just still remembered you or something. Geez. I'd better be careful, no? So, that reply under chewybaca67 was actually supposed to be under me - princesstaurus.

So what you are saying is that there is a lot of sex in the books? You should have quoted one of those parts instead.

Not sex, exactly...you'll see, if you read it...

Take chewy's suggestions. Try one. Alexie is one of the best writers I've ever read and he is a poet too. Bonus!

I suppose I could add one to The List.
