That sure makes a statement! It probably gets alot of looks too! What happens when the dealer or his hommies spot the car and recognize it and decide they want it back... guess they would have to be pretty crazy to do that though. LOL

Good to see it being put to better use, but these sorts of seizure laws definitely need to be monitored closely.

Yeah, one of the neighboring towns here does the same thing. They have a decked out corvette painted up like a cop car with the same message on it..

I can't beleive the negative comments! I think it is a great idea. As long as they don't abuse it.

I wish I could shake that sheriff's hand. Finally, LE doing things the way they should be done.

I co-sign the need for monitoring. Funny indeed, but I can see things taking a bad turn there too.

...or maybe "the patrols in your neighbourhood are sponsored by your local, drug dealer".

Not a big fan of government/police seizures.

Creates a conflict of interest, and often does not require much burden of proof. It can take years for a person to get their stuff back, and often it is damaged or has been sold off, so they just have to settle for some "cash value".

That is a great idea. It would give the police departments ways to fund the need for additional officers and equipment. Imagine all the drug that has been collected and sitting as evidence and put to good use.

I'm all for it but I can see some how some overzealous cops can misuse this idea. Cops word against yours and your SOL. Happened all the time in LA, Cops putting away dudes as long as they get some crackhead witness to confess to something they told him to say.

Your SOL against a a jury of the Cops peers, not the homie.

ps, not bashing Cops at all. Just pointing out some facts that happened to some friends.

Here's another one from a small town here in Alaska I used to live in. Has " DUI Seized Vehicle" written down the side if I recall correctly. One of the cooler things I've seen was a guy run a red light right in front of this car and the cop hit his lights and go tearing *** after him.

That sheriff is a little weak on his logic.

Near the top, he claims to be Robin Hood, stealing from rich drug dealers and giving to poor tax payers.

Later, he says he is using the nice car to prove that "dealing drugs doesn't pay." Well, which is it? lol.

There were a lot of reported abuses in the heyday of confiscation. Things seemed to have slowed down on that front.
