"Effective Police Supervision?" The book? Never heard of it. Sorry, but good luck with your upcoming test. Dragoon may have a 1st edition, but those clay tablets are heavy and shipping can get expensive.

A police supervisor should be a leader. If that's not possible, at least be a competent manager. And if that's not possible, take a voluntary demotion back to the rank-and-file. No shame in that.

Hit www.half.com I just checked and they have it. Also look into getting "Supervision of Police Personnel" by Nathan F. Iannone. There are several editions, but pretty much any of them in the last 20 years will get you over the supervision questions on the written/orals.

Thanks! The test has questions coming from this book, chapter by chapter. Otherwise I wouldn't even ask for this book. There are a lot better books out there.................

Bite the bullet. Do what you have to do to get the book. This is your career we're talking about. In the grand scheme of things, $60 is nothing.

Shot in the dark here, but try the local police academy or the CJ section of the university library.

Good luck on the exam. I consider the 10 years I spent as a sergeant, first line supervisor, to be the best time of my life. There is no higher honor than to supervise high quality police officers.

Thats what I hope to do. I've been an FTO since 2001 and I feel its time to take it to the next level. Some of the troops have lost faith in our supervisors. I hope to change that. At least during my shift.
