Planning a visit up to Seward in the summer to do some fishing. It sounds like the Kings are in June/July. The Silvers are in August. And, Halibut are pretty much all summer. So, when is the best time to go? I would like to fish for all three but it doesn't look like they overlap.

    Advice?

All of my trips were mid to late August. We did, however, have to 'chase' the fishing to find the best runs. Nonetheless, we did manage to catch everything you mention plus some real nice trout.

    Haven't you heard?
There are no salmon or halibut this year. The California sea lions ate them all.

Yes, the kings run in Alaska during May and June, but Seward doesn't have a strong king run. The best time to fish Seward is in August. A combo charter will take you to catch halibut, ling cod, rock fish, and silvers. You will come home with a boat load of fish for your charter money.

    Too funny.

You might have to tell that one to my son. He caught a King at Ship Creek (City of Anchorage) yesterday. It weighed 35lbs. It's in the smoker now.
