I have a small network used primarily for printer and file sharing. I've set it up just fine with my XP computers, but I'm having a hard time with the 2000 computer. I have the correct workgroup name and all that, but just can't seem to get it to work (no files and printers showing up on that comp). The Network Connection Wizard is a bit different on 2000. The hardware seems to be fine. It just seems like it's not configured properly to recognize my workgroup. Please help!

    what was it?

    TIP

What gets a lot of people, is trusting what the Network places browser says. What people forget is that that tool is not real time, but refreshes every so often. The configuration could be right and still not show up in the Network places window for a while.

Trust ping tests to test connectivity.

I had to set the correct IP addresses in the TCP/IP configuration.

Kuhl see you can learn something new every day!

By the way sharing only needs Windows networking to do peer to peer on a home network. You just can't do the web that way.

    ;)
