    depends. Some offer trial versions (usually up to 30 days) but there are many free ones out there. Case in point - from what I listed, Picasa, FastStone, IrfanView and Xnview are completely free. ;)

    I'm in the process of trying picasa. I like irfanview for red eye reduction.

    Tried faststone, I keep a copy of it but it gets little use.

    I have not gotten around to picajet or xnview yet.

    I'm a huge fan of picasa. Really disappointed it's not on Mac. Google offers almost all of its other software for mac, why not this one?!
