G20man has been helping me with this, but rather than hijack yet another thread;), I'd thought I'd better start a new one.

Iggy will be 11 weeks tomorrow. He DOES NOT like being left alone. He is getting better. When I first got him, he would flip out and bark and cry if I left the room. I can now walk around the house and sometimes he just whines a little, most of the time he's completely fine.
But if I leave the apartment, all bets are off. I left the video camera running this am when I went out for breakfast. Gone 90 minutes. Here's how it went:

I locked the door behind me and stood there quietly outside for a minute or two (armed with my noisemaker can of pennies), all was quiet, so I left.

When I got back, I approached by stealth, listened for a minute. All was quiet.

Reviewed the tape. As I suspected, there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth. Pattern was -- quiet for the first 5 min, then bark and cry for 5 min, settle down and play with toy or chill out for 5 min, bark/cry 5 min, repeat for 35 minutes. Settled down for good after that.

    Good thinking Scowan!!!;)
Now you have the intervals at which you need to come back and correct him!!
Also try a water pistol to save some confidence building later on.
Remember to rush in as he is crying/whining, give the correction and stare down then when he looks away, give him the "good boy" and walk back out. It will work, its just a matter of doing these "set-ups" often enough for him to get the message that crying or whining brings a negative reaction.
DO NOT LET THIS GO!!!! In his mind if he can whine then it must be ok for him to whine... Understand? Its all or never with him...
Good luck and let me know how it goes.
I sure hope I get to meet this pup one day. ;) ;c
