.357 revolvers and lever action rifles. If it doesn't have to be a rifle, I already only use pump shotguns as a defensive long gun, so that doesn't change. Not the end of the world - with fewer rounds you just choose bigger calibers and longer range.

Deputy: I don't quite follow. I do not think it a fantasy to see one day a liberal democrat as POTUS and both houses of Congress controlled by Democrats with liberal judges placed on the Supreme Court. One party control of the White House and the Congress has happened many times in our history, but at no time were they as liberal or anti-gun as they are now. And yes, you are correct in saying that gun sales set records during the Obama administration. That was due to fear about the very issue the OP is discussing. What Mr. Obama didn't have was a lock on the Congress and the Supreme Court. I hope an anti-gun President never has that lock, but I can see it as a distinct possibility. I was simply advocating political and voter activism on the part of gun owners. That is not living in a fantasy. Best to you.

There are people who use shotguns for home defense and there are wannabe tactical mall ninjas who use AR's, AK's, etc. Possibly an exception for people who live on large ranches or farms and use rifles.

I like ALL lever guns, but when it comes to the best revolvers, look at the "break open" designs by S&W and a British company called Webley.......You simply cannot reload any faster! Our best and in some cases "longest lived....Wyatt Earp" marksmen/shooters of the past absolutely relied on this all but forgotten design......Much faster than current revolver designs! Also, I am a fan of the insane Lee-Enfield SMLE rifles because of the removable 10 rd box magazine and insanely short and quick rotation bolt action.......

I think you overestimate "patriots". Considering most people can't even be dragged out to a voting booth on election day to vote, where are all these glorious patriots you refer to? With all the Constitutional violations we had to endure the last 8 years under a psuedo-Communist regime, not ONE revolution occurred. Not ONE. Your "patriots" are at best a pipe dream.

And not the goofer National Guard or Reserves. It will most likely be DEDICATED military who will follow any order given to them. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED becomes the be-all end-all to them. As in Navy SEALs. Yeah, they take a Constitutional oath to uphold it. They also are well aware what the punishment is for disobeying a direct order. And there are plenty of Generals/Admirals who will give that direct order rather than lose their rank. They will just pick one area and concentrate on it. Much like Waco. Or did everyone forget Waco? They will pulverize it and lead any survivors off in chains and make sure the far left media is there to record and play it over and over on network news. After that, there will be little or no "resistance".

There are lots of things worth dying for and there are a lot of people, including myself, that are not afraid to die. Being a Christian I know where I am going when I die! My faith, my family and my freedom are worth dying for and I have the guns and ammo to put up one heck of a fight!

If we look back in history, some transitional firearms were tubular lever actions, which were limited by flat nose bullets, A Winchester 1895 in 30-06 might be a possibility, only 4 round magazine, to bring spritzer ammunition into play. If we turn the corner into the new century, stripper clip bolt actions, such a 03 Springfield, 5 round stripper clip, would be a consideration. Modern shotguns would begin in my mind with Winchester Model 97,5+1. Of course there were muscle powered machine guns like the Gatling gun, although not a personal weapon. In the handgun category, I'd like to come as far forward as the Smith & Wesson hand ejector in 44 Special, since I'm going to dream big. The Mauser 98 nearly won two wars for Germany, so bolt action doesn't mean defenseless, just lots more skill to use. Pump action rifles such as Remington 7600 might be choices too, but only 4 round magazine.
