I think I’m going to get another 9mm to keep in different location in another state. First, it gives me the excuse +1 but also because then I could fly back and forth without having to check a bag. It would be stored in a safe and will not be at a vacant house. My CC is good for that state too.

I have a G19 gen 4, what is the prevailing wisdom of having 2 of the same or does it make any difference? I was thinking of an XD but have not made a decision.

    I agree. Don't change guns.

    +1

Commonality of magazines, muscle memory of grip angle, no confusion under stress how this particular pistol operates, etc

    Also...

If you, friends & family have same pistols (rifles, etc)...

..common mags/ammo/accessories could be a real plus some really bad day in the future!

Variety is the spice of life. I was thinking of getting another nine as well, but I'm leaning towards a CZ.

I agree. Have fun with it, and try new things. Sleeping around with different guns is how I found my new best fit, Sig.

    Oh, yea....by all means!

But are you trying to cover the SHTF basics..

    ..or build a collection?

Unfortunately both sides have brought up very good arguments.

I don’t expect to be making a collection, I have them for EDC and fun at the range. I do like the idea of the mags that I’ve been stocking up on fitting both, great point. But I also like the idea of variety being the spice of life too. [IMG]

Since both guns are going to be miles apart, do what you want.:wavey:

I agree platform similarities are important. 1911s (5) and ARs (3) here :)

I'd go Glock 19/23 just so the accessories will cross over.

I'd say I'm more interested in collecting. I have (I think) enough guns for some SHTF event.

Spare parts? Back up if one is in the shop? I like interchangeable parts.

Another G19. Do you really want to think when you draw your weapon? I don't.

    Buy the same gun.

You'll have interchangeable parts and can use the same ammo.

Manual of arms Glock: Point, pull trigger

Manual of arms XD: Point, pull trigger

I say get the XD if you want. The mag issue is interesting if you think you need that many or aren't going to keep a few in the other location.

As for the "parts" crowd - I think they are missing the point that a) The guns don't break really, and b) they won't be in the same place at the same time.

I was surprised at how much i dig my XD.

I like redundancy but, on the other hand , I also like variety so I am going to vote get one of each.
