HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam -
Secretary of State John Kerry, making his last trip as the top U.S. diplomat, defended the Obama administration’s Asia legacy and visited the site of a battle from his Vietnam War days.

While traveling on the Mekong Delta on Saturday, Kerry met a former Viet Cong soldier who took part in an attack on Kerry’s Swift Boat on February 28, 1969, an event which led to a Silver Star for the secretary of state.

Kerry brave enough for a Silver Star? Find that dubious.

John Kerry was a Yale graduate. With his Ivy League background and wealth he could have avoided military service. Instead he volunteered for the Navy and served in swift boats in Vietnam.

He was awarded the Silver Star, the Bronze Star with V device, and 3 Purple Hearts. He carries some VC metal fragments in his body.

I don't like the guy but I will not disparage his military service in Vietnam.

Exactly. If "his" version is true, he's a coward anyway. Throwing away another man's medals, while letting everyone believe they were his. He's a scumbag.

Interesting that some of you focus on Kerry and never care that George W. Bush and Dick Cheney and Ted Nugent and Donald Trump found ways to avoid service in Vietnam. Your selective perception is kinda funny.

I will say it's odd that he managed to have himself filmed during certain actions while in Viet Nam. Almost as if he was going to use that footage in later political campaigns. But, of course, that would have required some forethought, planning, and scheming on Kerry's part, and we certainly wouldn't want to think that.

Interesting how you never admit that George W. Bush flew fighterjets in the military and volunteered for service in Viet Nam, but was turned down. Interesting. Your selective memory is kinda sad.
