The word that has been challenged is "boogered", as in messed up.

It is not in the on-line dictionaries I have consulted.

On the other hand, the word "booger" is defined in Merriam-Webster as "a piece of dried nasal mucus" (**barf**).

Mike played the word. Luisa and the neighbors challenged it. As official referee, I have three choices. Allow it, toss it, or allow "booger" without the "ed".

Yes, I know what it means. The question is, should it be allowed to stand and be scored in the scrabble game.

I haven't made a ruling yet. The players are taking a peanut butter pie break while it is still under official review.

That's no fun. There's nothing to fight about LOL.

Not allowed, as you stated, it is not in any "real" dictionary. And since you were playing strip scrabble, he must remove a layer of clothing.:dancing:

Normal people (not us) agree ahead of time what dictionary will be used to settle disputes. We do it a little differently. We appoint an all-powerful referee (tonight it's me) whose decisions are final. More fun that way, makes it political LOL.

I think I am going to allow "booger", but not "boogered". Which means Mike has to take the 'e' and the 'd' off the board. He will not be happy with this ruling, because the 'd' landed on triple word score LOL.

You must be using a liberal dictionary. It's a word that every Military Man knows is true..

Your BF is correct rule in his favor, keep the peace..

    Covfefe.

Did you agree on an authority for contested words before the game began?
If not, you are at the mercy of any made-up word. no?

LOL. Yes, I know "boogered up" is a common military term. BF says it all the time.

Yes and no. The agreed upon authority is the referee. The referee can use any reference, or no reference. If I wanted to, I could allow "covfefe". It's completely arbitrary.

BF is upset I made him lose his triple word score. But I could have disallowed the whole word, so he shouldn't complain.

Allow it- its in every redneck dictionary out there. Jeff Foxworthy would approve!
