Before I cheered too hard that Obamacare was dead, I decided to check on Scott Brown on other issues.

Well, he's better than Ted Kennedy, but I see problems ahead.

Yeah, I don't think he's a friend to us gun-owners for sure. You're right though...he's better than the whale.

You can take the man out of Massachusetts but you can't take all the Massachusetts out of the man (or something like that).

It could have been much worse, I am glad he won. Hell, we could still have Teddy in there.

Sounds pretty sound to me... I dont see the issue with his beliefs...

Note I am not Rep. or Dem.. I hate both parties equally.

Apparently they thought there was an earthquake last night in MA.

Then they realized it was just Teddy spinning in his grave.....

-- Require background checks on gun sales between private citizens at gun shows.
-- Require a license for gun possession.

heck...if they dug up Chairman Mao and dusted him off, he'd be more pro-gun than Teddy.

Yeah...Brown may not be an NRA member, but he's from Massachusetts, not Montana, so in comparision with his predoceser and his locality, I think he's a huge improvement in the Senate.

I dont see the issue with that, Felons dont need to own guns so the BG check is fine, and the license isnt a issue with me either, license means you have to pass some sort of test, hopefully one that will illustrate and teach gun safety.

I dont see the issue here.

Requiring background checks on private sales makes sense if you are going to have background checks. Otherwise those that know they are not legal can go buy from a private party legally. I do not like background checks but without them but I don't like criminals having easy access to guns either.

Then you are part of the problem. It is an INFRINGEMENT of a right that shall not be infringed.

You gotta say something to get elected.

    If he had said:
-- Allow anyone to own guns, any kind of guns, as many guns as they want, and carry them anywhere they want.

I don't think he would be the new senator from MA.

I don't like NON-CRIMINALS having HARDER access to guns than criminals.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Better than the alternative, IMO.

Why should I have to jump through hoops to sell private property. What other property of mine do I need permission to sell? If a criminal buys a gun then proscute the criminal don't make the seller a criminal.

When you need a license to exercise a right, you lost that right.
Yeah it sounds reasonable on the face of it but what happens when the requirements become 200 class room hours, $1,000 registration fee and agreement with your sheriff each and every year.

He's a Massachusetts Republican. The fact that he's for concealed carry is a miracle in my book. I'm not really worried about the other issues about licensing and background checks. I don't think if those come up, that they'll get much traction right now. Healthcare "reform" is and is going to remain a huge black eye for the Dems. I doubt that they'll want to push the firearm issue anytime soon.

I feel a little bit safer knowing the law abiding people have to go through a BG to purchase a firearm legally.

It doesnt matter what you do though, the criminals who want to buy guns know they cant go to a dealer and buy them due to the BG check, so the have to obtain them illegally which they do anyways. But if it were as easy as walking into a dealer and buying a gun with no BG check then ALOT more criminals and unsafe characters would have firearms. NOT GOOD.
