So am I totally alone in this or not? With the cheaper Scotches (Chivas, Pinch, etc.), I enjoy having a little red wine left in the bottom of the glass (just a few drops) leftover from dinner when I pour in the whiskey for after the meal. I like the additional color and flavor. Anyone else?

Big fan of a 1/3 brandy and 2/3 red wine mixture. Served in a brandy snifter.

As I recall some fine scotch whiskies are or used to be fermented in old port or sherry barrels.

I inherited a partially consumed bottle of scotch from my father which was seventy years old and you could still smell a little of the sherry aroma in the whiskey.

I guess this indicates that a little additional wine does no harm and may improve the final product.

By the way those are cute kids by your name, AndABeer.
