I got some Leupold standard 2 piece mounts for a Remington model 700 long action rifle, and the rings are too far apart to fit the scope. It's a normal size scope, as a matter of fact I tried another scope I have and it wouldn't fit either. Anyone know what to do about this?

Is it possible you have one of the mount bases reversed? I know many bases for the M700 series guns are reversible for use with special scopes.

If this is not the case, then you may want to consider an extended/offset scope ring. Available for several different type of mount base systems, one or both scope rings is offset to provide extra clearance in special situations, such as a long-action rifle and a very short-tubed scope. Most well-stocked retailers will have some of these in stock, or they can be ordered online from many sources.

    Hope this was helpful.
