Picked up a Colt Model 6920 today. My question is I seem to remember reading a post regarding that Colt no longer makes the "6920 model" but instead makes the "M4" model. Of course I can not find that post now  Just curious what I bought, not that is matters a whole bunch.

    So:

    1. Is their any difference between the "6902" model and the "M4" model produced by Colt? Or just the name?
    2. Was the "6920" ever roll marked "6920", or just M4 as this one is?

Here are some pics of what I picked up today:

    The box is marked "6920"

Did not get "capitalismed" on the price thank goodness.

Impulse buy. Offered to sell it to my father in law for cost but he does not want it. Trying my brother in law to see if he wants it. All of my friends bought ARs roughly 2-3 weeks ago so they are set. I might gift it to my 18 year son. Who knows. Might even keep it although I don't really "need" it. Felt I had to buy it at that price since it was so "low" these days. See the gougers "cost me" even when they did sell anything to me.

Thanks for the help in advance.

As far as I know, no technical difference between the two roll marks - just marking changes. Congrats on the purchase.

The Colt 6920 is the "model" of their 16" M4 type carbine.
Previously was rollmarked, Colt's Law Enforcement Carbine, then Sporter M4 Carbine (this lasted only a short while) and then now M4 Carbine.

The ones that said Law Enforcement Carbine had the

    Restricted
    Military/Government
    Law Enforcement/Export
    Use only

on the opposite side of the magwell.

Same carbine, same model 6920, just different markings.

I'd buy it if you really want to sell.

Standard. I do have a extra MagPul pistol grip in the closet and just gave some MagPul hand guards to a friend the other day for the 6920 he bought a couple of weeks ago. Oh well

I'd personally hang onto it if possible. If you're in a position when you need to use one, having another armed family member will greatly increase your odds.

Valid point for sure but there are 4 of us in the family at home and I have 4 other ARs. Until the grandkids are born (and that better not be anytime soon!) I am good to go :)

Hold on to it, if (or should I say "when") FeinTard unleashes her bill the second wave of panic buying is going to make the current one look sane. It will be a good time to cash in on your investment.
