I had an email stating that my Prime account was going to be canceled because the Amazon card had expired. It didn't feel or sound right, I am fairly certain Amazon CCs do not expire. I contacted Amazon via their call you option, Yep, scam. I was asked to forward the scam email to them. Done and done.

Yeah, I got that a few weeks ago. Emailed it to them; haven’t heard anything back.

All I got back was a short message that they received the scam email.

I got one also. Said I needed to give them a credit card number to reactivate my Amazon account.

I don’t have an amazon account. My wife does but I don’t.

Here is the one I got.

    amazonscam_1.png

What was strange was I got it as a BCC: and I have no idea who the To: and From: addresses are and they are different from the post just above.

I immediately knew it was fake because I don't pay a Prime fee for membership as I get it free for my business.

Same rules: Never click on anything in an email involving your private information. Go to the source by typing a known URL and check it out. A pain, but need to do it.

FYI: I just got a couple of 2-step verification emails for a password change to a Faceplant account I deleted 2 years ago. The 'From' email address and the link's actual response URL looked valid (I hovered over it, did not click on it, to read it) but I still did not respond.

I got one as well. Like so many of these scams, I do not have an account with Amazon. Nor do I bank with Wells Fargo or BOA, nor any of the other myriad spam emails that make it through my junk filter. I guess if they can get 1 in a million to be a sucker, they made money... but not off of me.

Amazon asks that you forward the email to them at " [email protected] "

It seems that email is going the same way a snail mail these days. 90% crap and 10% interesting. I get those idiotic notes from Amazon, Netflix, Apple, PayPal (I dont even have a PayPal account)...

It should be legal to respond to these folks with some virus that donates they accounts to charity and melts their machines to the ground.
