(Sumter, SC across from Shaw AFB) I was in Tony's Guns and Police supplies today and saw the owner, Tony Ashy, try to steer a customer away from a new Glock in favor of an older, used 2nd generation Glock pistol. The reason? Mr. Ashy told the customer that if he purchased the newer Glock that he could not use pre-ban magazines in it. This is a common ploy used by some dealers into selling a potential buyer an older (often overpriced) firearm in which they have little money invested hence a higher profit margin. A dealer might only make $50 on the sale of a new Glock, but a used Glock might net the dealer several hundred dollars in profit esp. if sold for only a little less than the price of a new one. Of course, Tony's Guns will be happy to sell you some first generation pre-ban magazines for the bargain price of $150 and up to go with that "pre-ban" pistol.
