Am going to put together an SBR looking at Noveske barrels, which length do you prefer?
I am leaning toward either an 11.5" or a 12" barrel.

Wisdom I can share: most people going the SBR route wouldn't do it to only shave off 2.5". I would wager than 10.5" is the most common barrel length for SBRs as that is about the minimum allowed for a valid warranty on a lot of suppressors.

How is the wait for Noveske barrels now? They make some really nice ones. I looked long and hard at the Afghan with 14.5" bbl.

I have a Colt 6933 with a 11.50 inch barrel, and it has quickly become my favorite. 11.50 inches seems just about right.

Noveske has several 10" thru 11.5" barrels in stock . Too bad I can't order till my Tax stamp comes in.

Most go 11.5 because that use to the shortest that suppresser manufactures would warranty their supressor's for, that has changed in the last couple years down to 10.5.
My Colt 6933 has a 11.5 barrel and it is the one I like and shoot the most.I had a Bravo company receiver that I sbr years ago first with a 11.5 then I got a deal on a 14.5 upper and it was the same to me as a 16 inch upper after I sold then off it the bug again and went with the Colt 6933.

Sure you can. If you have the lower receiver and waiting for the form-1, all you have to do is have a friend or relative store the upper and barrel for you in another location. Once the form comes back all you have to do is put the two pieces together and have fun. Nothing illegal about it.

A few years ago, Noveske was refusing to "can" barrels of less than 12.5" in length. think that maybe that was just to sell some "custom" $500 barrels? :)

Or you can buy a pistol lower and put it on that until your stamp arrives.
