I picked one up a few months ago, Cabela's door buster, $199 with a Bushnell. I wanted something in in .17hmr for varmint shooting.

First thing I noticed was difficulty with the magazine. It's tricky to align, doesn't seat easily, and is diffucult to remove. The magazine and magazine release is made of stamped metal and has sharp corners and edges that should have been smoothed.

After firing the first round, I pulled the bolt to the rear ejecting the spent case,... and every remaining round in magazine followed right behind it.:steamed: Similarly, if seating the magazine with the bolt open, it releases rounds (sometimes all of them) that then fall out the ejection port. Maybe the magazine is just bad. The rest of the day I fed it manually, with the magazine removed.

Accuracy has been disappointing. I've tried 4 different types of ammo, two hornady and 2 CCI. The best 5 shot group at 100 yards being just over 2", the worst over 6":wow:.

I also own a .22 Mark II that is CRAZY accurate, and I love the accutrigger, which influenced this purchase. I'm thinkin' it's time to trade.:dunno:

For the mag issues is call savage and get another mag.

Accuracy issues, is everything tight on the gun? Scope rings scope mounts, stock screws? Is the barrel free floated for its entire length?

My pre accutrigger 93r17fv had a lot of vertical stringing until I glass bedded it. The cheap plastic stock didn't give enough support to the action screws.

I tightened the rings and mounts after I adjusted eye relief and leveled the crosshairs.

Did you replace the stock, or just glass bed the one it came with?

I glass bedded the stock that came with it. The cheesy plastic one.
