Land of Lincoln, the growing years
Just saw that Salt Walther died.
For those of you who may not know, Salt was an Indy Car driver who was involved in one of the scariest crashes at the Brickyard of all time.
In 1973 he made contact with another car during the start of the race. Salt's car essentially came apart, and at the end of the crash you see Salts legs sticking out of the nose cone of the car as it comes to a halt.
Salt once infamously said that a woman was not capable of finishing the Indy 500 due to their lack of upper body strength. Janet Gutherie proved him wrong.
Salt apparently had a drug problem from rx pain killers brought on from his crash and did some time in jail.
    RIP Salt.
