3 different safeties are in place weather the gun is loaded or not.
The trigger can not move to the rear without the trigger safety being depressed.
The striker can not fire the cartridge without the trigger bar moving rearward AND the firing pin safety being depressed.
The drop safty prohibits the trigger bar from moving away from the striker until it has reached its maximum reward motion at the same time the connector pushes the trigger bar down and out of the way of the striker and into the drop safety slot

BTW: This gun is as safe as can be, loaded or not. Everything starts with the trigger movement. Pull the trigger all the way to the rear and it FIRES. Let the trigger return at any time and it automatically goes into SAFE mode. Its PERFECT
