    Just sharing,I finally got a hammer for my j frame, it took a while because S&W was out of stock but I am Happy enough that I got one eventually.

    The original finish on hammers on S&W are usually case hardened. Looks like the one you got is case hardened.

    i stand corrected, yes it is case hardened, i called it 'in the white '.
    i had the small parts hard chromed a while back kasi

    It might be a good idea to leave the hammer unfinished. Hard chroming makes it brittle, baka mabasag yung hammer.

    Sa open and standard ipsc pistols ko, i always leave the extractor, hammer, sear, firing pin and disconnector unfinished.

    That's probably why they keep it case hardened, and not blued or chromed.

    Where can i buy a hammer for my Colt Agent? I want to make it bobbed, but i want to have an original spare just in case i want to put it back to the original looks.

    Why don't you just buy a Colt hammer shroud that screws onto the gun's frame? It'll make your gun look like a S&W Bodyguard, and taking it off will instantly restore the gun to its original look.

    i read that hammer shroud breaks too, and also the hole or the marks that left after removing the shroud from the frame.

    check the colt website
    I checked the the S&W website, then corresponded( emailed) one of their contact persons to make sure i was getting what i needed. Then I had someone in the states order it for me through telephone
