S&W Scandium

Hi All..

I saw a S&W Scandium 1911 in commander size...
It was at my local toy shop... they wanted $700 for it..

I read some pros and cons on them...
I have a full size Colt, and Dan Wesson

I thought this might be a nice size 1911 style to carry.
I carry a Glock 19 and sometimes a G 22 OWB ....

Anyone have experience with the scandium frames ???
I'm not in a big hurry to buy it.. I just thought it might be lighter to carry
and I have been looking to add another 1911 style gun to the collection..

Thanks in advance for your comments....

Sounds pretty cool. I don't have any experience with them, but I don't keep up with the S&W 1911's. I do like their scandium revolvers though.
S&W are great 1911's, I wish they still make the scandium full size. I would no hesitate to buy one because all the feedback I have seen its been positive.
Carry a 1911PD Commander daily. Over 3k rounds and narry a hiccup. Very solid gun for the $$$ and the external ext. on smiths have always been great IMO. Don't think you would be disappointed at all.
I had a 1911pd 4.25" and the Gunsite Edition. Both were great. Hated the FCS, but I really miss that Gunsite. Would almost consider another one...
For God sakes don't buy it! That is exactly what I am looking for for ankle carry back-up. My SSTL Sig Commander is too heavy for my Chintzy ankle holster. And for me if it ain't a beater then that price is great with 2 mags.
pm me where I can buy it,:whistling:
I've got the S&W 108304, the 1911PD Gunsite, and it's got just a shade under 10k rounds through it without issues at all. I did have to send it to Wilson's to have a positive click thumb safety installed as S&W's safetys seem mushy to me. Other than that, it's functioned flawlessly. With it's lifetime warranty, I'm not in the least bit concerned about cracking the slide after many thousands of rounds through her. Accuracy is 2.37" using match grade ammo and 2.58" with standard PMC ball.

I will show you a picture of it in a few days !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have one and love it. What color is it?
It looks black to me.... I don't really know what the finish actually is...
I have not purchased it yet....
Gotta get back to the toy store and see if it's still there....
I've had 6 1911's over the years and the scandium framed SW is the only one I've kept. It's lighter weight is slightly noticeable in the recoil but it is spot on accurate and it doesn't feel like a brick on my belt at the end of the day.

I love mine. I have the version with the Crimson Trace grips and it is fantastic carry gun! I use a Minotaur holster and it wors very well... It is still a bg heavy gun, but is bearable for a 45! That is for sure!
