Was hanging around a local "swap shop" yesterday just shooting the bovine, when an older gentleman came in carrying a classic blue S&W cardboard handgun box. Hmmm. Now he had my interest.

Opened it up. Inside was a very nice Smith Model 639. Not mint, but very, very nice condition. The gentleman said he was the original buyer, and had put this away in a drawer quite a few years ago. Now, he needed some cash.

Original box, all paperwork and warranty cards, two magazines, S&W wrapping paper, cleaning rod that was still sealed in its little plastic bag.

Since the shop doesn't really "deal" in handguns, I took it off his hands for a fair price.

Wasn't really looking for this particular gun, but it looked too nice to let get away. Just shot it; functions just fine. I like it!

Need to find out when it was made; A771*** serial number.......

 Now, for a handgun that doesn't have a cylinder, THAT is one fine looking one.

Congratulations.

Howdy Kahrcarrier......

Very excellent score, my friend........

That looks very similar to what I have, except mine was missing the original grips......but, very minty. You're going to love that!

ooc

I bought these Mustang grips shortly afterwards, and originally intended to look for a set of original grips, but decided I liked them. The original grips, like you have, are very fine looking grips.......too bad you don't see nice grips like that much anymore!
