I've got the itch again: trade off the G23 and maybe even get out of .40 altogether. The 4" 1911 is on the short list of replacements and the 1911sc in particular.

Anyone have experience with the Scandium-framed 1911s from S&W?

I have a 1911PD with the scandium frame and I love it. It's very light and extremely durable. Smith 1911's are good guns and I have yet to meet anyone who owns one and says they don't like it.

I traded a G36 and got the S&W 1911Sc. Great gun, more accurate than I'll ever be. It's a keeper in my collection.

    I agree totally. I love my 1911PD.

    And I agree about getting out of 40cal. I have 9mm & 45cal and I'm happy.

Do not own one but have shot a couple, great 1911's.

    .40 sucks anyway. :)

i've had three S&W 1911s and all were very well made and reliable. i think the 1911pd is about as pretty as 1911s come. i've longsince sold all of mine off and moved to STIs since there's a small chance thry'll pay me for shooting them.
