Hey Guys,
I've heard that P85 series magazines can fit into other P Series pistols as well, but I heard that the 85 had to be a certain serial number and higher. Any info on this subject would be great as I own a P85 and am considering getting a P94. Thanks in advance for the help.

Actually the magazines changed much later than your gun was made, during the P89 run.

P89 Serial No. 304-70000 & above share the same mags as the P93, P94, & P95.

I have an old P-85 and what I've found is that the P-95 factory mags will work in it but they won't drop free. I don't know if that helps or not. I hope so. Mec-gar makes decent mags for the P-85 and the have them at www.cdnninvestments.com

My buddy brought his P94 and the mag fit in and fed a round just fine. I bought 3 mags today at a gun show. One drops free, the other two don't. I guess it's just hit or miss. I have a P85 MKIIR and the three I bought worked. One you have to use a little more pressure to make it fit (I don't like that). But I bought all three for $15 total so I couldn't go wrong there!

The Ruger P-Series ROCKS!!!

I have the P-89 and I buy all my mags at CDNN. I have 15-, 17-, 18- and 20-rounders for it. Most are Mec-Gar but a few are factory. If you get the 95 make sure you get a dozen of these:

They will fit your 85 also.

Good luck and good shooting:wavey:

I love my P85. Hell, I just love rugers really. I just got a Mark III 22/45 today for the kids (and myself, who am I kidding right?) So Far in my experience with rugers, they are great weapons. They may be built like tanks and a little heavy, but my 85 is one of the most accurate pistols I've shot. I'd like to get a P94 9mm but the 22/45 purchase kinda post poned that purchase for another month... :crying:
So as of right now, I've got 5 15 round mags for my 85 :)
