I prefer the standard blackhawk grip...but by all means try them both and get the one you want.

See which grip frame fits you best. I have a Blackhawk convertible with a 5 1/2" barrel. It came with two cylinders, a .45 Colt that That I use the most, and a .45 ACP. It has become my deer hunting companion.

I like the Bisley grip for target shooting. The Bisley grip frame is steel where the standard Blackhawk grip frame is aluminum so the Bisley is a noticeably heavier gun with balance more towards the rear. The Bisley hammer is also much easier to reach as noted above. I have one of the new Bisley Blackhawk flat top .44 specials, very nice.

The standard blackhawk grip is probably better for draw and fire shooting.

That is the best advice.

That being said, I've got a standard-grip BH in .45 Colt with a .45 ACP cylinder as well. For ACP or standard pressure Colt loads it does just fine. When I go to magnum-level loads with heavy bullets, the gun will spin violently in my hand and the frame bites me at the base of my thumb. The Bilsey is reportedly better for the heavier loads. For standard, or even mildly hot loads, the BH grip is just fine.

The flattop BHs all come with a steel grip frame.

If you're going to shoot only standard pressure loads the Blackhawk will be fine. If you think you'll shoot lots of 'Ruger Only' loads go with the Bisley, your hand will thank you.

If you use 'modern' handgunning stances (two handed, Isos/weaver,chapman etc) you might like the Bisley grip better than the SAA style of the standard and Super BH.
If you like the point and shoot/ from the hip and duellist stance stuff, you might prefer the BH.
The Bisley was made for target shooting and works good for duellist too, but feels better using two handed grip vs the BH...I have both.
