New Ruger MPR, right out of the box. Feels very good to shoulder, nice trigger.
Firearm Gun Trigger Rifle Gun accessory
Put on a cheapo UTG scope I had just to get it shooting, and depending on how good it shoots, I’ll find a more appropriate piece for it later. I hope to let it loose tomorrow or this coming week. Weather has been poor as of late.

My fall hunting season has been impacted by our new baby. Hopefully I’ll have more time for some predator hunting this winter, and this rifle will be the bad medicine.

I have an S&W M&P Sport II I’ve been comparing to the trigger to, and it feels much nicer while dry firing. Nice crisp break, much lighter. The M&P measured right at 5.5 lbs, and the upgraded Ruger trigger on the MPR is advertised at 4.5 lbs. It sure feels like it’s in that range, pretty nice trigger for a guy like me. I’ll have to see what the real deal is soon. Hoping for a break in the weather this week.

Not sure for Android, but for my iPad there is a little picture symbol button along the top of the text box. There is also an “upload a file” button next to the “post reply” button at the bottom right of the text box. Hope that helps.

In other news, the weather still sucks here. I’m all ready to hit the range, just need this break in the weather.

I mentioned this in another thread, be sure to check the 2 bolts holding your handguard rail. Mine weren't tightened all the way, and it came loose.
I had read that a few different places. I tightened them right after I looked the gun over, they definitely need a few turns. I didn’t do any Loctite, but if they come loose again I’ll be getting some on the threads.

Finally got to shoot this rifle. I put 100 rounds of American Eagle 55 grain FMJs through it, not a single issue using Pmags and 1 steel mag. The good groups were 2” or under at 100 yards. It shoots better than I do, although it was gusting wind so I’ll use that as an excuse for a few fliers today, lol. I love the trigger. Nice and smooth, clean break, and consistent. I kinda forgot about it after a while. Recoil is very soft. It’s a Cadillac compared to the M&P 15. I really enjoyed shooting it. I feel like I scored a lot of gun for the money, very pleased. I have some good Hornady 53 grain varmint stuff I’ll try next time I get a chance to shoot, and we’ll really see what it’s really capable of.

I picked up a .83” rail riser for the scope. It feels more comfortable when aiming and lets me set the scope back a bit further on the rail, but doesn’t interfere with the charging handle. I’ve got to re-zero the scope. Darn, guess I gotta shoot another 100 rounds through it. Life is hard!

I was finally able to get out and test my new MPR out today. I put some cheap BUS on it since my scope hasn't arrived yet.
I'm very pleased. Zero malfunctions and I was able to shoot a 2" group at 100 with irons. I had to use the big peep since the sun was in my face and the glare prevented me from using the small one. I'm impressed. It shoots softer than my M&P and it handles very well. I dropped three metal targets in rapid succession from 50 yards in three shots. My old eyes don't love the BUS but they work well when I focus hard.
It’s a sweet shooter, that’s for sure. Loving this rifle.

That's some really bad staking on that gas key. It would have me worried.
There’s been a lot of discussion about the staking on this bolt. I haven’t read of any MPR specific issues...yet. I will say it hasn’t caused me any issues as of yet, and a BCG is a minor thing to replace if I need too. I’m still really happy with this rifle overall.
