I decided I'd do some upgrades to my 30+ year old 1022 that I bought with yard mowing money when I was 13 or 14.

Spent a few bucks with Tactical Innovations Inc. http://www.tacticalinc.com and installed an aluminum paddle magazine release, lightweight charging handle, a host of trigger housing guts plus a billet trigger, flash hider, and put it in a Choates folding stock. Topped it off with a Barska 3x9 IR reticle scope.

Of all the stuff I added and modified, the best item was the $4.49 synthetic "RED" bolt buffer. It really smoothed out the recoil as the bolt rebounds off of the softer bolt buffer instead of a slamming and banging back off the original steel bolt buffer.

I've got her sighted in and we're ready for some night time critter killing from around the chicken coop.

Nicely done... I have a few 10/22s, but none with a Choate stock, may have to fix that soon.

Looks good! That will get the job done when it comes to possums - my least favorite varmint next to racoons! Have fun!

    Nice!

Go get 'em. When I lived in the city of St. Louis, we had more possum and raccoon problems than you can shake a stick at. Used to shoot (with a pellet rifle), and eat the squirrels that were helping themselves to the garden. Never saw a rat in my neighborhood!

Now, it's armadillos and alligators - neither of which, I shoot.

I say you add night vision and a suppressor.

Of course I am not paying for it so it is easy for me to suggest.:whistling:

The bolt buffer is amazing the difference it makes. Turns that metal to metal clank to a nice soft little thud. Make your own bolt buffers with many different materials that can be found at any hardware or automotive store.

We used to call a flashlight mounted on a 22LR a "Arkansas Big Game Rifle."

Substitute any state you like......except Texas. JUST KIDDING nice setup.

The top 10/22 is shortened 2.5" for my kids.
The bottom 10/22 is threaded for my SDS-6 suppressor.

Congrats! I have always thought someone ought to come up with a patch or something to celebrate those of us who turn the 10-22 into our favorite money pit.

Yes like for those who have spent like 5 time the cost of the rifle on add-on's. I mean others have not me.:whistling:
